Thanksgiving 2012 (back posted)

This year was a Polasek Thanksgiving. We all went to my folks and had a great time.  The weather was gorgeous so the kids had lots of outside time and Grandad and Nana had even rigged up a hayride.

It was a good holiday.  I didn't take pics of much beyond the hayride, so here are those pictures.

It was SUPER sunny so this was our "group shot" haha

Abigail sportin' sneaks with her skirt haha

Grace driving

Wyatt driving - he kept telling Grandad to move that he had it.

Me, Tracy and Amanda - so rare we are all together for a picture. Really cherish this one.

On the Injured List

About once a day, although usually more, one of my children injures me. JB will say I am also a bit clumsy or that I am always going 110mph so I have a tendency to injure myself as well sometimes, but I have come to accept it as part of the job, but it doesn't make the blows (actual PHYSICAL blows) hurt any less, though.

Today alone, my toenail has been cracked quite severely and I have a sore left cheekbone.

Wyatt was vigorously playing trains this morning and apparently, I put my toe a little too close to the track and Koko the train drove (I should probably say collided with the force of an annoyed toddler behind her) straight into my big toe.  I got an immediate apology (with a smirk) that went something like 'oops, sorry mommy. your foot was in Koko's way!'. I wasn't paying attention because I was hollering at Abigail to get down from Wyatt's chair where she was standing up dancing and laughing at my attempts to get her to sit down.

Then as Abigail and I were reading books before nap in her chair, she was calmly babbling and WHAMO, her right arm flew up liked it was possessed (think Pheobe Cates in that scene from 'Drop Dead Fred', an obscure but fantastically funny movie).  Clocked me perfectly in the left cheekbone.

I am sure more injuries will occur throughout the day and it goes beyond saying that I am SO glad it is now jeans season to hide what appear to be spousal (but are actually parental)  abuse bruises to my legs.

So, put me on the injured list, but know that I'll still be in the game!

Undies and a Toddler Bed

Wyatt update!

We are now in underwear always at home and in pull-ups when out and about.  He stays dry and pees in public toilets (although he is his father's kid and immediately demands to go home when he feels the urge).  The pull ups are really for me.  I don't want to mess with clean up when I am out and about.  Bad, lazy mom, yeah yeah.

Poop is still a hard thing. He will just hold it until he gets himself stopped up (thank goodness for miralax) and then ends up going in his diaper at night. BUT, we are making progress.

Chuggington trains are great poop prizes! (fuzzy iphone pic)

Also a big milestone - we changed Wyatt's crib to a toddler bed.  No real reason except that we will eventually start night training and we just decided it was about it.  Probably jinxing us, but he has been in it for about a week now and so far he has only gotten back out of bed once and that was at naptime one day and he REALLY needed KoKo the train to come to bed with him. ;)

All Before 7am

My morning has gone like this....

5:30am - Wyatt is awake.  Although now in the toddler bed, he will sit on the edge with his feet hanging off, hollering to be allowed to get down (nice, huh? no, we haven't told him there is a monster that will eat him if he gets down, he has done this "permission" thing on his own and we have no plans of altering it).

5:45am - Get my face washed and contacts in (this is a big deal people - don't always get this done).

6am - Wyatt playing and watching TV.  Start folding a load of laundry from the dryer, move clothes over to the dryer from the washer.  Pick up the kitchen and start Wyatt and I some breakfast (Eggos, chef mom of the year).

6:15am - Hear Abigail up so I frantically get Wyatt his breakfast on the table and try to finish my kitchen cleanup.

6:30am - Go get Abigail.....am greeted by a nice surprise with a beautiful aroma.  Little miss has stuck her hand down her pants and smeared poop all over herself (in the hair, all over the pajamas, etc) and all over her bed (sheets, bumper, dollies in her bed, etc).

6:31am - Abigail straight to bath and then straight to the high chair for the breakfast of champions (Eggos).

6:50am - Strip EVERYTHING out of her bed (even washing the bedskirt - I know it probably couldn't have made its way all the way down there but I am just grossed out).  Thank goodness the washer is empty. Use Kitchen Clorox spray to sterilize her bed.

7:00am - Wyatt happily playing trains, Abigail eating, I decide to document this typical morning in my house and finally eat the breakfast that has been waiting for me since 6:15am.  Still tastes good although a little cold.
Cold tea and waffle, anyone?
My father-in-law commented the other day that my job was 'herding monkeys' to which I had jokingly replied "thank goodness they only throw feces every once in a while!".  Thanks, Abigail, for keeping it real!

Halloween

This was the first year of trick or treating for us as a family.  Wyatt's first halloween he didn't get it.  Second Halloween Abigail was just a couple weeks old and he still didn't really get it, but this year - he got it!

A lot of it was age and they also had been doing halloween activities at preschool.  He did great running up to houses, shouting 'trick or treat' when they opened the door and giving hearty 'THANKS!' when given goodies.

It was too much fun!

Such a cute pic....mommy needs to notice backgrounds a lot more though. ahhhh...the garbage can ;)

Our litte Zebra

Wyatt loved helping pull the wagon.

My sweet family.  Is that not the cutest train conductor you have ever seen?!?!?

Zebra Abigail and Spider Ryder (we will show this pic at their high school graduation party one day).

Checking out their loot.  Wyatt was actually asking me to open candy for Abigail to eat.  It was very sweet.  Wyatt's favorite candy was Skittles.

1 Year Old Abigail in review

How is my baby already 1 year old!?!?!  How did this happen? How has a year gone by? I thought Wyatt's first year flew by....but the last 365 were really a blur!

Here are her stats from her appointment a couple weeks ago: (to be filled in when I can get into her room to look in her book)

Height:
Weight:
Head:

Says....Hi (very enthusiastically to everyone that walks by), Dada, Doggie (for Sully and all other dogs), Juice, Bubba or WyWy (for Wyatt), Bye-Bye, Book, Arf Arf (when asked what the dog says), a grunting sound for pigs and "baba" for sheep and will repeat many other words fairly clearly when prompted, like pancake or thank you, but doesn't use them spontaneously.  She will say Mama only when she really wants something or I make her say it to get something.  She adamantly shakes her head "no" when she doesn't want to do something.

She started walking at 10 months, just like Wyatt, so she is in full Frankenstein, stiff legged running now.  She is a good eater.  Adores her brother, but also loves to push his buttons.  Can scream like a veloceraptor if Wy takes something away from her or she is being removed from climbing something (usually the fireplace).  She likes people, waves at everyone and does a few party tricks....When you ask her to say Bye, she does a routine of waving while saying Bye Bye and then blows kisses.  She is a big mimic.  She LOVES to sing and dance and will groove to any music she hears, even at the grocery store where I rarely notice it.

The first 6-7 months of her life were quite challenging.  A lot was just learning to juggle two kiddos but she also was VERY demanding and didn't like to sleep.  She has since started to sleep much better (very rarely does it take longer than 10 minutes to get her down and she sleeps thru the night).  Naps are still a bit sketchy at times but she is a busy body and is just afraid Mommy and Wyatt are doing something fun while she is stuck in bed (which we usually are because that is our crafts time). She is getting better about taking a morning catnap and then an afternoon nap timed with Wyatt's (which I am enjoying immensely right now b/c I know it won't be long before he drops his nap).

She is so dang cute and adorable and just a happy child and pleasant to be around now.  I love to watch her give kisses and hugs to Wyatt without prompting and she is a big snuggler with us as well.  Our home is a very different place now that she has come along...louder, crazier and  much more fun.

Sweet Baby on the Morning of her 1st birthday!

Abigail's 1st Birthday......almost a month late

On Abigail's actual birthday, which conviniently fell on a Saturday (Oct. 13), we had our family over for a birthday breakfast.

As Abigail's first word was DOGGIE and they are her favorite thing, we had a doggie themed party.....I will post pics of the cute decorations and invitations (patting myself on the back) later, but here are some pics that Doc got on that fun morning.

Give me my cake (sprinkle pancakes that is!)!!

Abigail's 1st Birthday Cake

We had to hold her back from grabbing the candle but she did blow it out.

YUM!

Mommy and the birthday girl.

Nana and all the kiddos enjoying the nice weather.

Of course JB stole Baby Lilly. Aunt Christal is headed in for the next steal.

It was so special to have everyone enjoying the morning.  Can't wait until next year for sweet baby Lillian's birthday.

Grandad watching Abigail drive the fort!

She thinks she is such a big kid now that she can climb up in the fort with big brother.

Showing Great Grandma Margaret her new puppy dog hat - Abigail LOVES hats!

Time for presents - this little girl is SO spoiled!

Checking out one of her new books with Nana.

Birthday girl and JuJu

She partied until she crashed....couldn't even finish her lunch ;)

Doc was there.....the pictures are the proof....one day we will get him on camera!

Arlington Heights Pumpkin Patch (back posted)

AHUMC has a GREAT pumpkin patch that we got to visit every school day in the fall.  Wyatt loved it. I took pictures one morning.
